Wired Different builds websites, apps and business systems from Calgary, Alberta. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who handles it for us, where it goes, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers this website and every Wired Different product and service listed below.
"We", "us" and "Wired Different" mean the Wired Different business, run by Joshua Neiszner ("Josh") in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Questions about anything here go to hello@wireddiff.ca.
The short version
- We collect what we need to answer you, do the work you hire us for and run our products. We try not to collect anything else.
- We never sell or rent personal information. The only things that go to other companies for advertising are the Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag on wireddiff.ca, which tell Meta and Google about visits so we can measure our ads. You can switch them off.
- Our AI assistants always say they are AI. Calls on our phone lines can be recorded and transcribed, and we tell you when they are.
- Our own website analytics use no cookies and do not store your IP address. On wireddiff.ca they also record how you use the page, with anything you type hidden. You can switch them, the Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag off for your browser on this page.
- Some of the companies that help us run things are outside Canada, mostly in the United States. They are all listed below.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Email hello@wireddiff.ca and we answer within 30 days.

Who is responsible
Wired Different is responsible for the personal information it collects and holds, including information handled for us by our service providers.
Our Privacy Officer is Joshua Neiszner, Owner. Josh answers privacy questions, handles requests, and answers questions about how our service providers outside Canada collect, use, disclose and store personal information. Reach him at hello@wireddiff.ca (please put "Privacy" in the subject) or at (587) 507-5008.
What we collect and why
When you visit our websites
Our own analytics. On wireddiff.ca and neiszner.app we run Wired Different Analytics, which we host ourselves. It records the pages you view, the page that sent you to us, your browser, operating system and device type, your screen size and language, and your approximate location (country, region and city). It also records campaign tags in links, such as which ad you clicked. We use this to see which pages work and which do not.
- Your IP address is used for a moment to work out your approximate location and to make a visitor ID that changes regularly. The IP address itself is not stored.
- It uses no cookies, and nothing is shared with Google or any ad network.
- On wireddiff.ca and neiszner.app it also records how you move through the site: which sections you see, how far you scroll, how long each page is open, which buttons and links you press, the steps you reach in our forms and Talk to us (not what you write), when you copy something (not what you copied), how quickly pages load, and any errors the page runs into. On neiszner.app that includes which files you open.
- Recorded visits and heatmaps (wireddiff.ca). We record visits to wireddiff.ca so we can play them back and see where people get stuck: the pages, mouse movement, clicks, taps and scrolling. Everything you type into a form or chat box is hidden before it leaves your browser, and the Talk to us conversation itself is left out of the recording. Clicks and scrolling are also combined into heatmaps that show which parts of a page get attention. We do not record visits from Quebec, the European Union and EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. Recordings are kept for 90 days. Now and then we keep one longer, or show one to a client as an example of how visitors use a site; when we do, nothing in it identifies you.
- Visit alerts. When someone new arrives on wireddiff.ca, our own phone system sends Josh a short text with the page you landed on, the site that sent you, your approximate location (city and province) and the kind of device and browser. It never includes your IP address, your name or anything you typed. It follows the same rules as our analytics: no alert if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or if you switched tracking off below.
- We honour your browser's "Do Not Track" setting, and you can switch our analytics off for your browser with the button below.
The Meta Pixel (wireddiff.ca only). We use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram), to see whether our ads lead to visits and enquiries, and to show our ads to people who have visited us. When it runs, your browser sends Meta the pages you view, your IP address, browser details and a cookie ID, and tells Meta when you send us a form or start a chat. It does not send what you typed: we switch off Meta's automatic scanning of buttons and forms, and we do not pass your name, email or phone to Meta. Meta can connect this to your Facebook or Instagram account and use it under Meta's own privacy policy, including to improve its ads.
- The Pixel does not run if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, or if you switch tracking off with the button below.
- It does not run for visitors in Quebec, the European Union and EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, where this kind of tracking needs your consent first.
- You can also manage ads from Meta at facebook.com/adpreferences.
The Google Ads tag (wireddiff.ca only). We use the Google Ads tag, a tool from Google, to see whether our Google ads lead to visits and enquiries. When it runs, your browser sends Google the pages you view, your IP address, browser details and a cookie ID, and tells Google when you send us a form (by reporting a visit to our thank-you page). It does not send what you typed, and we do not pass your name, email or phone to Google. Google can connect this to your Google account and use it under Google's own privacy policy, including to improve its ads.
- It follows the same rules as the Meta Pixel: it does not run if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, or if you switch tracking off with the button below.
- It does not run for visitors in Quebec, the European Union and EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland.
- You can also manage ads from Google at myadcenter.google.com.
Checking this browser…
Fonts. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts. To do that, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser details under Google's own privacy policy.
Hosting. Our hosting provider processes your IP address and the details of each request to deliver pages and protect the sites from abuse.
We do not run Google Analytics. The only advertising trackers we run are the Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag. Our recordings of visits stay on our own servers and are never shared with an ad network.
When you contact us through the website
Talk to us. Talk to us is an AI assistant that runs on ElevenLabs. You can type or talk to it. It says it is an AI. We keep what you type or say (and the audio, if you use your voice), a transcript, the page you were on, and any details you give, such as your name, business, phone, email, website, what you need and good times to call. We use this to call you back and prepare for that call. Josh gets the details by email and text.
The call-back form. We collect your phone number, name, business, type of business, website, what you need, when to call, whether it is OK to text you first and, if you choose, your email.
The contact form. We collect your name, email, business and message, and send you a copy.
Fix Finder. We collect your website address, your goals, any notes and your email so we can send you the results. When you send us your plan, we also collect your name, phone, business, timeline and what you picked. To write your site check, we look at your public website with Google PageSpeed and an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic). The AI is given your goals, your notes and text from your homepage, not your name or contact details. Your plan is saved on a private page that only people with its link can open.
Spark Chat. We collect your first name, your email if you give it, your messages and the page you were on. Messages are passed to our Slack workspace so a person can reply, and replies can be emailed to you if you leave your address.
When you respond to our ads or message us on social media
Lead forms on Facebook and Instagram. If you fill in one of our forms on Meta, Meta sends us what you entered, such as your name, phone, email, business, website and your answers. We use it to call you about what you asked for. Meta's handling of your information on its platforms is covered by Meta's own privacy policy.
Comments and messages. When you comment on or message our pages on Facebook, Instagram or X, we receive your name, handle and message. An AI may draft a reply for Josh to read before anything is sent.
Our ad text line. If you text your website to (587) 812-8586, we keep your number, your messages and the website you sent. We check the site with automated tools and may call you back, sometimes with our AI assistant, which says it is an AI. Reply STOP at any time and we will stop texting you.
When you call or text us, or we call you
- We keep your phone number, the time and length of calls, and the texts we send and receive.
- Calls can be recorded and transcribed. When a call is recorded or transcribed, we tell you at the start. If you would rather not be recorded, say so and we will stop, or you can email us instead.
- AI on calls. Our AI receptionist, our call-back assistant and the Change Line assistant run on ElevenLabs. They say they are AI and that the call is recorded. On some calls Josh uses live transcription and AI suggestions (from Twilio and Anthropic) to help him keep track of the conversation. Josh may ask whether he can pass you to an AI assistant to take down your details; he only does that if you agree.
- Voicemail. Messages you leave on our voicemail are recorded and kept. Some voicemails we leave use an AI-generated copy of Josh's own voice. They always say who we are and how to reach us.
- Do not call. If you ask us not to call or text you, we add you to our do-not-contact list and keep that note so we can keep honouring it. We call only at reasonable hours.
When you are a client
- Your portal account: your name, email and sign-in records.
- Your project: requests, approvals, files, messages, reports, hours worked, notes and invoices with their payment status.
- The Change Line: the number you call from, your PIN (kept only in a scrambled form that cannot be read back), the call audio and transcript, the summary of your changes, and the recap text we send with your replies. Small changes may be made by our AI assistant; bigger ones wait for Josh.
- Hold-to-talk in the portal: the audio is sent to be turned into text and is not kept. Only the text you choose to send is saved.
- Payments: we take payments through Stripe payment links. Stripe handles your card details; we never see or keep your full card number. We keep invoice and payment records for as long as tax law requires.
When you use the Wired Diff app
The Wired Diff app is the new home of the client portal. It signs you in the same way (a one-time code sent to your email) and shows the same project information described above. On top of that:
- Design previews. When Josh sends you a mockup or an update to review, we record when you first and last opened it and how many times, so Josh knows you have seen it. If a preview has a time limit, the clock starts the first time you open it. When the time runs out or Josh closes the preview, its pictures stop loading for you.
- Comments and decisions. When you drop a comment on a spot in a preview, we keep the spot, your words, your name and the time, along with any replies. When you approve a preview or ask for changes, we keep your decision, any note and who made it. Josh gets a notification on his phone when you comment, reply or decide.
- Previews stay private. Previews can carry a light watermark and are shown only to the people on your account. They are not meant to be shared outside your business.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, Apple (on iPhone, through Expo, which sends them for us) or your web browser gives us a device token so we can tell you when something needs you. We use it only for that. You can switch notifications off in your phone's or browser's settings at any time.
- Photos and files. The app asks for access to your photos only when you choose to pick a picture to send, and it only receives the pictures you pick.
- On your device. The app keeps your sign-in and which business you last opened on your device, so you do not have to sign in every time. Signing out removes them.
- No tracking. The app has no advertising, no ad trackers and no third-party analytics, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Deleting your account. In the app, open You, then Delete my account. That sends Josh the request, and we delete your account and your sign-in within 30 days. Records the law makes us keep, such as invoices, are kept for as long as it requires. Deleting your own sign-in does not delete your business's project or other people's accounts on it; ask us if you want those removed too.
When you use Flatline, Bonk or Wired Different Analytics
- Flatline: your name, email and phone, the people and channels you want alerted, your quiet hours, push notification details for your device, conversations with the Flatline AI assistant, billing details held by Stripe, and a log of account actions that includes the IP address used. If you subscribe to a status page, we keep your email to send updates. You confirm before anything is sent, and the unsubscribe link deletes your address.
- Bonk: see bonk.boo/privacy. In short, when someone taps a sticker, Bonk records the time, device type, browser, referring page and approximate location for the sticker's owner, without storing the person's IP address or identifying them.
- Analytics accounts: your sign-in details and settings.
When you are a business we would like to work with
We research businesses we think we can help, using public sources such as websites, Google listings, social pages and review sites, and sometimes AI research tools. We keep business details and the business contact information of owners and managers, such as name, role, business phone and email, and public profiles. We also keep our notes and an internal score we use to decide who to contact first. We use this only to contact you about your business. Ask us to stop and we will mark you as do not contact.
When we work for our clients
We run tools on our clients' websites and in their businesses: analytics (on some plans with heatmaps and recorded visits, with what people type hidden), Spark Chat, Bonk stickers, Flatline status pages, AI receptionists and other voice tools, and emails sent in the client's name.
For information about our clients' customers and visitors, the client decides what is collected and why. We process it only to provide the service the client asked for, keep each client's information separate, and do not use it for our own purposes. The client's own privacy policy applies. If you are one of their customers, please contact that business first. If you contact us, we will pass your request to them and help them answer it.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to do more with a one-person business. You will find AI in Talk to us, our phone assistants, the Change Line, call transcription, Fix Finder site checks, drafts of social media replies and outreach messages, Flatline incident summaries, suggestions during calls, and business research and scoring.
- Who provides it: ElevenLabs (voice and chat assistants, speech-to-text, voice audio), Anthropic (the Claude AI model) and Twilio (live call transcription).
- AI always says it is AI. It never pretends to be Josh.
- A person makes the decisions. Josh decides prices, which projects to take on, and what gets sent to clients and prospects. We do not make any decision with legal or similarly significant effects about you by automated means alone. Our lead scores are used only internally, to decide who to contact first.
- Ask us. If you want to know how AI was used in something we did with your information, ask and we will explain.
- We do not sell your information for AI training, and we do not train AI models of our own on it.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- answer your questions and call you back when you ask;
- prepare plans, quotes and proposals;
- do the work you hire us for and support it afterwards;
- run, monitor, secure and fix our websites and products;
- send invoices, keep business and tax records, and collect what is owed;
- understand, in aggregate, how people use our websites so we can improve them;
- send marketing messages, only where you agreed or the law allows (see "Marketing messages");
- meet our legal obligations and protect our rights.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Apart from the Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag described above, we do not let anyone use it for their own advertising.
Your consent
We collect, use and disclose personal information with your consent, which may be express (you tick a box, fill in a form or tell us) or implied by what you do (for example, you text us your website so we can check it). You can withdraw your consent at any time, with reasonable notice, by contacting us. We will tell you what withdrawing means, for example that we may no longer be able to provide a service. We may collect, use or disclose information without consent only where the law allows or requires it.
Who we share it with

- Professional advisers, such as a lawyer or accountant, who must keep it confidential.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, such as a valid court order.
- A new owner, if the business is incorporated, sold or merged. The information would stay protected under this policy.
Information stored outside Canada
Some of our service providers are outside Canada, as listed in the table above. They may collect, use, disclose and store personal information outside Canada, mostly in the United States, for the purposes listed for each of them. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country, and courts, law enforcement or national security authorities there may be able to access it.
Questions about how these providers handle personal information go to our Privacy Officer, Joshua Neiszner, at hello@wireddiff.ca.
Cookies and browser storage
We keep these to a minimum. Only the Meta Pixel's and the Google Ads tag's cookies are for advertising, and you can switch them off.

How we protect it
- Information is encrypted while it travels between you and us.
- Each client can see only their own information. This is enforced in the database itself, not just on the screen.
- Sign-in uses one-time codes sent by email. Josh's own sign-in needs a hardware security key. PINs and passwords are stored only in scrambled form.
- Files and design previews are kept in private storage and opened through links that expire within minutes. A preview's pictures cannot be opened at all once its time is up.
- Inside Wired Different, only Josh has access to our systems, and only as needed for the work.
- We choose service providers with established security programs.
No method of storing or sending information is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect it and keep improving them.
If something goes wrong
If personal information is lost, accessed or disclosed without authority, we act right away to contain it. If there is a real risk of significant harm to anyone, we notify the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the people affected, as the law requires, as soon as we reasonably can. We keep a record of every such incident.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you, how we have used it and who we have shared it with;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it;
- stop using it for something you agreed to before;
- explain how AI or automated tools were used with it.
Email hello@wireddiff.ca with "Privacy" in the subject. We may need to confirm who you are before we act. We answer within 30 days. If we need more time, or cannot do something, we will tell you why. Requests are usually free.
Quick ways to say no: reply STOP to any text, use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, tell us on a call that you do not want to be recorded, or ask to be added to our do-not-contact list.
Complaints. Please contact us first so we can fix it. You can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca), the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
Marketing messages
We follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We send commercial emails and texts only with your consent, or where the law allows without it, for example when you asked us about our services in the last six months, when you are a client, or when your business published its contact details and our message is relevant to your business. Every marketing message says it is from Wired Different, gives our contact details and has a working way to unsubscribe. We act on an unsubscribe within 10 business days, usually much sooner.
Messages you need for a service you use, such as sign-in codes, receipts, invoices, project updates and replies to your questions, are not marketing. We keep them about the service.
Children
Our services are made for businesses and adults. They are not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
If you live in Quebec
Our person in charge of the protection of personal information is Joshua Neiszner, reachable at hello@wireddiff.ca. In addition to the rights above, you can ask us to stop spreading your information or to de-index a link to your name, and to give you your information in a commonly used technological format. We do not load the Meta Pixel or the Google Ads tag for visitors whose connection appears to be in Quebec. Our website analytics work out an approximate location (city) from your IP address. You can switch our analytics off with the button above, and we honour your browser's Do Not Track setting. Before information about you is sent outside Quebec, we consider whether it will be adequately protected.
If you live outside Canada
We are based in Canada and follow Canadian privacy law. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we rely on your consent, on what is needed to give you a service you asked for, on our legitimate interests (such as answering your questions and keeping our systems secure) and on our legal obligations. You also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict and object to our use of your information, and to receive a copy of it. We do not load the Meta Pixel or the Google Ads tag for visitors in the European Union, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. If you are in California or another US state with privacy laws, we do not sell personal information. The Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag on wireddiff.ca may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under some state laws. You can opt out with the button above, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we also tell clients by email or put a notice on our website before it takes effect. Ask us and we will send you an earlier version.
