Joshua. Calgary, Alberta. Wired Different.

Self-taught. Full-stack. In your corner.

I taught myself every part of this job, from the pixel to the database, because I wanted to be the one person a small business could hand the whole thing to. Interfaces that feel good to use, and the integrations that make them actually work.

How I got here

I ran a nightclub for four years. Then I left to build.

For four years I managed KNetic, a private members-only nightclub in Calgary. Running a club shows you fast where the systems are broken, so I started fixing them: digital workflows for memberships, events and communications, even a custom lighting desk.

Somewhere in there I realized building was the part I loved. So I stepped back from the club to chase it full time. That became Wired Different.

  1. KNeticOperations Manager. Ran the club, built its systems.
  2. Runway Hair DesignMarketing & Brand Manager from Jan 2025. Website, inventory, stylist portal.
  3. Wired DifferentFounder since Nov 2025. All in.

The name

Why Wired Different?

01 / The systems

I wire systems differently.

Most small businesses run on tools that were never connected. The booking system doesn’t talk to the website. The phone doesn’t talk to the calendar. A person ends up being the cable in between.

I wire them together so the booking, the payments, the phone line and the website behave like one thing, built around how your business actually runs.

02 / The brain

My brain is wired differently too.

I’m autistic and I have ADHD. I was diagnosed at six. Growing up it was always there in the back of my mind, and it was always a battle: getting on the right medication, getting through school with it.

Starting Wired Different changed that. I’m not confined to someone else’s way of working any more. Most of my best work happens after midnight, and running my own thing means I get to build that way. It has opened up a lot of opportunities for me.

So if a reply from me lands at 2 a.m., that’s why.

My whole story is also a repo.

Same story, told like a software project. A changelog, a file tree, a locked .git. Go poke around.

The rest of the story

Nobody handed me a curriculum. I learned design by redesigning things that annoyed me, and I learned to code by refusing to accept “that’s just how the software works.” Every skill on this page is self-taught, tested on real businesses, and still being sharpened.

Along the way I found the thing I’m best at: UI design and UI integrations. Making a screen feel obvious is half of it. The other half is wiring that screen into the booking system, the payment provider, the phone line, the chat box, the analytics, so the whole thing behaves like one product instead of six tabs. That seam between “looks right” and “works right” is where I live.

Wired Different started because I kept watching talented owners held back by dated websites, scattered branding and software that fought them. I’d already spent years hands-on with websites, social media, branding and marketing for beauty and service businesses. So I built a one-person studio that does the whole job, properly, without the agency overhead.

When I couldn’t find a tool that was good enough for my clients, I built it. That is how the client portal, the analytics platform, the chat box and Bonk came to exist, and why they all look and feel like they belong together.

I work with clients locally in Calgary, Strathmore and surrounding communities, and remotely with businesses across Canada.

Built here. Used every day.

Most agencies show you logos of software they resell. These are things I designed, coded and run myself. When I wire something into your business, it is usually one of these.

Why working with one person works.
